Coastal living.
This post will be brief because the internet is poor, but I have made it to Mahajanga and it is gorgeous but oh so hot. The countryside was gorgous and i took many pictures which will be uploaded later. We stopped at the national forest Ankarafantsika which was amazing! I saw lemurs and chamelleons! Otherwise things are moramora (Easy living)!
Amanarak, Tana!
Even though it feels like we’ve only just arrived in Tana, we’re already preparing to leave, at least for a little while. Bright and early on Sunday, we will be piling into a van to head towards the Northwestern coastal city, Mahajanga, but first we will spend a few days camping along the way. We are due to arrive in Mahajanga on Tuesday. We will spend approximately 10 days there...
In Madagascar, one day you’re eating tongue, and then next day you’re eating Ramen and Pizza.
February 12, 2012 or, weird (read: new) things...
This was quite a weekend of many tastes and new foods, as well as other adventures. The first new thing I ate was a kaki (a persimmon) which is a deceiving fruit because it looks almost exactly like a tomato, but tastes completely different. I’m living with a host family...

Madagascar!
Hello World!
I have successfully made it Madagascar and after a few restful days outside of the city we are officially staying in the capital city, Antananarivo. We will move in with host families on Wednesday, but for now we are staying in a hotel. Although it’s only been a couple of days, it already feels like so much has happened. I’m going to have to just give some highlights,...
London Calling
Whew. It has been a whirlwind of a couple of days. I have been in London since last Friday and I will be leaving for Madagascar on Wednesday. So far I’ve had a great time visiting with some friends and seeing as many of the sights as I can. I will try to give a brief account of everything I did. I think I am going to find that blogging is harder than I realized, there is just so much to...
Whee!
Following the trends of many before me, largely because I enjoyed using friends’ blogs as procrastination tools, I have created this blog for my semester abroad in Madagascar. Feel free to follow me over the course of the spring, and I will try to update often and keep it interesting!
